Doesn't anyone else think this obsession with thinness is completely insane?

People mistakenly attribute diseases to obesity that are actually not caused by fat but by lack of exercise, stress, poor nutrition. Heavy people that are active and take care of themselves show better metabolic health than skinny people who are not active and eat unhealthy food. Diets do not work because people become discouraged when they stop losing weight. Also, a diet that involves eating high-sodium processed low fat foods may make you lose weight but will not make you healthier. Also, women are healthier at higher levels of obesity than men because of fat stored in the gluteofemoral fat depot. So its safe to say that the obsession has nothing to do with health, but everything to do with wealth and status. It's very similar to Chinese foot binding, and I know people will fly off at that but its true. This was a sign of status because it meant you had servants to carry you around. It was not healthy but it was a standard that was pursued because of status. Same with corsets in England that impaired fertility and respiration, but were very expensive and made women seem weak and delicate which men found attractive. But those things eventually went out of fashion, when will ultra-thinness do the same?
