2003 Jeep Liberty engine light?

Engine and oil lights (oil only briefly) came on at 69,301 miles and engine stopped. Towed to shop where they could find no issues from the most common codes associated with the engine light. Changed oil at regular interval. Went 6.4 miles and it stopped again, no oil light this time, just engine light. Restarted and drove to shop where crank sensor was replaced. Drove 71 miles and engine light came on again. Car has had regular maintenance and only one driver. Can you provide any guidance on the history and solution of this problem with JEEPs for my excellent mechanic before I haul it over there again?
